Plantar Fasciitis Relief Chiropractic Treatment

by Dr. Eric Pirrone D.C.

Can Chiropractic Treatment Help With Plantar Fasciitis Relief?

Chiropractic is very helpful in relieving plantar fasciitis and in prevention of future foot pains. The foot has 3 arches that are supported by the plantar fascia. Each arch creates a spring like mechanism that allows the foot to create and distribute many forces. Chiropractic care correct’s any imbalances in the foot and in the spine. The three arches are formed by the bones, ligaments and tendons that can be adjusted.  Combining the adjustments to the foot and spine with Physical Therapy methods will also help with correcting the imbalance’s in the foot and creating strength to keep the foot pain away. Plantar Fasciitis, will also respond well to laser therapy, stretching, and muscle stimulation. Lifestyle is important when dealing with foot pain. Therefore, Dr. Eric Pirrone will prescribe stretching and strengthening exercises. Eating a healthy eating diet to maintain your ideal weight, will also help with preventing your foot pain.

What is Plantar Fasciitis?

The plantar fascia is the thick tissue on the bottom of your foot, it runs from your heel all the way to your toes. Plantar Fascia has elastic properties to help transmit the forces of the calf muscle, allowing you to run, jump and spring. It provides shape to your foot, providing shock absorption and an even distribution of your weight as you put pressure through your legs. There can be different factors that can contribute to Plantar Fasciitis.

The plantar fascia can become inflamed and painful when too much demand is placed on it. This can come about through increased activity, for example on a hike along the tow path, or with increased stretch on the tissues, such as swapping to flip-flops in the summer from the usual supportive lace up shoes you wear the rest of the year.
